Manhattan GMAT Open House with Accepted.com
Accepted founder shares secrets of effective MBA essays.
LOS ANGELES,
California (PRWEB) June 18, 2008 -- Powerful MBA essays and stellar GMAT scores
are the one-two punch that every MBA applicant needs to get recognized in
today's competitive environment. For over a decade, Accepted.com has helped clients
create compelling essays that get them accepted at the nation's top business
schools. Now Accepted founder Linda Abraham
has teamed up with Manhattan GMAT to show how to deliver
this knockout punch!
In this free
two-hour event, attendees will learn the approaches to essay writing and
GMAT prep that have worked for students at all the top programs. First, Abraham
will demystify the MBA essay writing process in "Essays for
Acceptance." She notes that “MBA applicants have gone through high school,
college, and sometimes graduate school with little or no training in writing
about themselves in an engaging way. Using what they know, they frequently
treat MBA essays as a cross between an academic paper, a business memo, and a
resume in prose. That approach fails miserably."
In this session,
Abraham will present a better method that is grounded in what the MBA
application essays purport to do: learn about the candidate on a personal
level. "The MBA essay most closely resembles a human interest or feature
story," says Abraham. "A good essay will go well beyond the boxes and
numbers contained in other parts of your application." Using the writing
tools presented here, applicants will be able to craft distinctive, engaging
essays that do just that.
One of Manhattan GMAT’s
expert instructors will also present a session that promises to separate fact
from fiction on the challenging GMAT exam. With its single focus on the GMAT
exam, Manhattan GMAT has become a nationally recognized leader in GMAT
preparation courses. In this session, attendees will learn how the GMAT works, what it tests, how business schools
interpret scores, and why short-cuts and tricks will only get you so far.
This valuable
information session will be held on June 26, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at
the Santa Monica Center (1323 Lincoln Blvd Suite 230 Santa
Monica, CA 90401).
The session is free, but registration
is required, online or by phone (1-800-576-4628).
